CED, the Center for Economic Development & Social Change, was founded as an independent think tank with the aim of contributing to the most recent studies on development, sustainability and social change. The Center developed from the work carried out by SvEc (Observatory for New Paradigms of Development and Economics) of the Italian Institute for the Future, founded in 2013 in order to contribute to the debate and research on economic development. Since the foundation of SvEc, we strive to overcome the concept of development as a simple synonym for economic growth and analyse long-term economic, social, environmental and institutional trends and policies of inter-generational sustainability.
To achieve this, the CED proposes the integration of studies and research, training, communication and dissemination of economics and social sciences, counselling and events through an interdisciplinary approach, based on qualitative and quantitative analysis. The objectives of the CED are pursued through the production of research, reports and analyses, the promotion of networking and lobbying activities, think-tanking, collaboration on growth and promotion of entrepreneurship, business advice and proposals for the professional and personal development of members and associates. Focusing on topics such as the European Union, the labour market and production activities, sustainability and new measurements of well-being, microfinance and social innovation, and cross-cutting themes such as vulnerability, resilience and inclusive development, migration, energy and climate change and forecasting and scenario analysis, the CED intends to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of economic systems and to advance development proposals.
The CED is a Social Promotion Association. Its Journal, “Sviluppo, Sostenibilità, Innovazione Sociale“, is registered at the Court House of Naples as a scientific journal.
