Working groups that analyse a series of cross-cutting issues and interdisciplinary topics related to high-impact sectors and phenomena of major importance within the international development agenda. Some of the issues addressed are:
• Energy (climate change, energy markets, energy policy and balance, efficiency, transition, consumption, emissions, dependency, intensity and energy productivity. In particular, the analysis is based on the Mediterranean and European area, with reference to economic, environmental, social and institutional sustainability and to new economic models, such as the Circular Economy, with an economic, quantitative, historical, international, technical and technological approach;
• Migration (migration flows, illegal recruitment of migrant workers, migration policies, international and EU law, migration economy, especially regarding the Mediterranean area and Europe, with an economic, historical, legal, international and demographic approach);
• Inclusive Development, Vulnerability and Resilience (definition and analysis of vulnerability, vulnerable categories and instruments to relieve volatility and exogenous shocks Specific focus on category includes: disability, gender, ethnicity, rural populations and equal opportunities. The study is focused on economic, sociological, legal and historical aspects);
• Scenario analysis, Trends, Prospects and Forecasts (outlook, forecasting, economic, social, environmental projections and long-term policies, including analysis of international relations).
