The axis is based on the work carried out by the SvEc Observatory – New Paradigms of Development and Economics, founded in 2013.
Today sustainability, in its various dimensions, requires feedback in order to develop the policies needed for economic, social, legal and cultural change. The necessity to provide concrete bases for Sustainability Studies and to identify new indicators for the integration of traditional measurements such as GDP, which have become not sufficient, has led to the need for new measurements, certifications and good practices in the public and private spheres of economy and production. A new approach, driven by the growing consensus of the international community, is based on triangulation between the economy, the environment and society, complemented by the fourth pillar of sustainability and governance, and is exemplified by models in which local actors and the individual person play a central role.
The CED intends on delving deeper into the following fields:
• economic, social, environmental and institutional sustainability;
• new criteria, proposals and measures of sustainability and well-being, composite and long-term indicators – among others, SDGs and the 2030 Agenda, Human Development Index (HDI), Equitable and Sustainable Well-being (BES);
• corporate Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Shared Social Responsibility, and Economic Ethics;
• common goods (natural and cultural);
• certifications, labelling and ISO.
The global economic growth is facing increasing challenges in terms of sustainability.
